OREGON 97211 The street dance brought many to their feet to enjoy the festivities. By A ngelique S an d ers Last week, ihe opening o f the Oregon Conven tion Center was punctuated by a four-day business fair, as well as Saturday's street dance. The fair had business people glad at the opportu nity to connect with others in related fields, and consumers enjoyed the opportunity to meet the people behind the businesses, as well as sample an array o f free products (from ExecuLodge's free cham pagne to Quik Print's free film processing). Saturday night. Body & Soul, Nu Shooz, and T ow er of Power rocked listeners for th e -a lso no adm is sio n -stre e t dance. This event packed in people, and o ffen ed an array of food and musical choices. Radio sta tion Z100 broadcasted live from the Oregon Convention Center. It is estim ated that 100,000 people went in and out o f the Convention Center doors its opening weekend. Bus lines going to and from the event, as well as the MAX line, were overloaded with people from the Rose City as well as am ple tourists in town for the weekend's events: several extra runs were added to help diffray overcrow d ing on Tri-Mel. The staff at the O bserver (we had a booth at the fair, for those who missed it) had a great time, and thanks to all who cam e and supported us. G ood luck to all o f our contest participants, and we hope to see you there next year at the Oregon Convention Center's one year anniver sary! SAFEWAY Fresh Whole Fryers Plump, juicy and tender.
